APEK

Overview

APEK is a manufacturer of marine composite hoses. These specialized hoses—specifically designed for Ship-to-Ship (STS) and Ship-to-Shore operations—are required for the safe transfer of hazardous liquid chemicals, petroleum products, and cryogenic gases. Engineered for the marine environment, these hoses are distinguished by their exceptional durability and flexibility.

The Challenge

The objective was to design an emblem that instantly communicates the company’s core activity while avoiding common industry clichés, which often result in cluttered and overly detailed designs. The visual identity needed to convey simplicity and modernity. A specific challenge was integrating the client’s preference for curved forms—a stylistic choice that typically stands in contrast to the rigid, heavy industrial nature of the sector.

The Solution

Our solution centered on a monogram derived from the initial letter of APEK (“A”). By cropping the upper section and modifying the structure, we achieved a dual visual: the form evokes the flexibility of a hose while simultaneously creating a droplet shape—the universal symbol for the chemical and petroleum industries. Furthermore, the curved geometry softens the sharpness of the letter “A,” successfully satisfying the client’s aesthetic preference while maintaining industrial relevance.
